Economy of Words

Economy or words

Hello my name is Norrison Morgan and I am personal trainer in Rocky Mount N.C, I am also a student at Kaplan University. I am also a new blogger, I will be blogging about tips on how to loose weight and get healthy in addition healthy recipes that I learned over the years of living a healthy lifestyle. But today I would like to share a term that not related to health but it is an important term when it comes to blogging and that term is “economy of words

The word economy comes from a Greek word oikomos, this word means managing ones household and or acting administrator. It also means management of one’s resources, carefully managing money, labor, and material. This is word is something that is thrown around a lot these day in the media on how the government is spending the revenue that they collect from tax payers.

Economy of words is based on the same principle as managing money, labor, and material, only in this regard it is managing words wisely. This is a good method if you are blogging on sites that only allow 140 characters or less, so you have to make every word count to get your point across.

Plus using words unwisely makes you look like an armature writer, for example, run on sentences, passive verbs, repeating the same words in close proximity of each other, and repeating the same ideas in the same paragraph, the idea is to be conservative with your words. Unit 10 blog

My physical, spiritual, and psychological usually fluxuate over time, it depends on what I have going on in my life that may take my meditation time or even bring stress in my life, I try to make sure that I don’t stray to far away for a significant period of time.

Unit 3 my physical well being was a 9 but I think it is around 6 know because I caught a stomach virus and I am very weak right now. My spiritual well being has drop to 7 because of my illness, and my psychological well being is 8. I don’t get sick often maybe every 5 to 7 years, because I am not used to it I can be a big baby.

When I review the goals I set for myself I think I have made significant gains because I learned some new meditation techniques from Dacher. Knowledge brings change although I can’t see any change yet I know it will be once I master these new meditation techniques.

I believe with these new meditation techniques I will grow even more, everything I learn brings growth to my life and as long as I am experiencing continual growth I know I am on the right track. This will also help my clients because the more I know the more I can teach and help them advance to the next level.

Unit 9 final project blog

Final project

I believe it is vital that a health and wellness professional develop psychologically, spiritually, and physically. I believe in the old saying that Dacher mentioned in his book we can’t lead a person anywhere we haven’t been ourselves. As health and wellness professionals it is our mandate to continually improve for our benefit and the benefit of our clients, we set and example for our clients to follow, we are the evidence that this stuff really works. We also have to remember if we are good teachers than our clients are going to grow, so this means we have to continue to grow in order to keep leading the clients.

I do my best to live by example and continue to improve, not just for my benefit but for the benefit of my clients. People love to see someone that is passionate about their profession; this gives them the confidence that I am going to do what ever it takes to get the job done. I do great with my diet and exercise; however I need to work more on my psychological and spiritual part.

Assessment

I have done a small assessment in each domain but for me I believe in consistent improvement in every domain, it doesn’t matter what the score is.

However if I was to score each domain on a scale from 1-10 I would score spirituality 6,

Physical 10, and psychological 5.5.

Goal development

The goal I have for myself physically is to become healthier and gain more muscle, I love to compete in natural bodybuilding shows. I am 43 and I compete with guys half my age, so my main goal is to keep up with these young men, as long as I can do that I know I am doing well.

Psychologically I want to master meditation, I am good in some areas of meditation but I want to master all of them not just one or two. The main reason I want to master meditation is because it is closely tied to spirituality, unless I can control or get rid of all the negative images in my mind I will be limited spiritually.

I am a devout follower of Jesus Christ (not just a church goer) most of my clients are Christians, so I believe as the bible says the laying on of hands, praying for the sick and they will be healed. I have seen God do some amazing things over the years that really built my faith up to were it is now. So my main goal spiritual is to do what the disciples done in that day, so my goal is to develop my relationship with God more and more every day.

Practices for personal health

The strategies I can implement to foster the physical domain of myself is as I just mentioned earlier, competing in bodybuilding shows, this keeps me motivated to continually improve. Also trying to keep up with the younger guys keeps me motivated in improving myself, we all need a goal to shoot for, a reason to do something.

Psychologically I plan on incorporating more meditation in my every day life. I plan on meditation twice a day, when I first wake up and when I lay down. I believe doing this will help me focus on the things I have to do and at the same time it helps me clear my mind from all the clutter from the day.

Spiritually Likewise in the morning when I first rise and in the evening when I lay down, I also mentioned earlier that psychological and spiritual are closely linked, So in the morning I will meditate to get my mind in line, then I will go into prayer and so on. I believe being consistent with this practice will implement foster to all three dimintions and bring me to a whole new level as a spirit being.

Commitment

I think it is much easier for me to be committed than for some others because I have clients that watch every move I make, so they tend to keep me in check. It is a good idea to tell someone what my goals are so they can hold me accountable to my plans. I believe if I practicing this consistently when I assess myself in six months I will have made significant improvements.

Unit blog

Unit 8 blog

Sorry my blog is so late but I lost power for three days thanks to hurricane “Irene”. I think all the meditation exercises are as equally important and beneficial, but if I had to pick a meditation exercise that would be most beneficial to my profession as a personal trainer it would be love and kindness.

Most of my clients are over weight or obese and they have very low self esteem, so I have to show love (genuine love) so they don’t feel that I am looking down on them. Most people think that physical fitness is all physical, its not, it is mostly mental, one important part of my job is building up self esteem in my clients. This gives them the ability to step up the challenge and overcome, this mind set also overflows to all areas of life.

Meditation

Meditation

I have been practicing meditation for two years so the concept of meditation is not new to me. However Dachers meditation exercise took me to the next level, it helped me go even deeper into the realm of meditation. Meditation is a must in my life because if my busy schedule, work, school, family, and personal training many clients I need meditation to clear from a crazy day. I am also teaching my client to meditate to help them lower their blood pressure and achieve help achieve over all health.

The love and kindness exercise is my favorite because I am a Christian, and when he say to think I a person I love and fill my heart with that love I think of Jesus, so it is so easy for me. I can’t wait to really get deeper and deeper I doing this type of meditation because I know there is no limit of I far a person can take meditation.

One can not lead another were one has not gone himself

Practice what you preach

I think that standard is missing today with many professionals; everything is base off head knowledge and not revelation knowledge. Head knowledge is a person reading something or accumulating knowledge in school, then turn around and regurgitate it out to someone else as though they know without a shadow of doubt that this information is right.

Revelation knowledge is when a person learns something in school or some were else, then applying it to their life and trying it out to see if this information works. And if it works how it does work? What’s the cause and affect of what I am trying? What is the best way to apply what ever it is? This is revelation knowledge something that is reveled by experience, you know that it works because you tried it.

This is the reason why I compete in natural bodybuilding shows, because I have to push things to the limit in order to prepare for the vent. When I come up this a new diet plan I try it out when I am training for a competition to see how well it works, I believe in trying new workouts and diets myself before I prescribe them to a client. Also training for a show keeps my client motivated because they see first hand how a body can change with diet and exercise. And finally clients seeing me training for these events tend to trust me a lot more because the know if I recommended something, then it works because I done it first.

Unit 6 blog

To Practice universal love and kindness meditation exercise on page 93 is pretty easy for me because me and my prayer group does something similar to this every week. We go to church and love it but we practice Christianity in its true form outside of church as much as we can. We pray for the sick, hungry orphans, homeless and many others on consistent bases, my love for people grows each day. I am glade I took this class because the exercises that I am learning from Dacher are something I will incorporate into my daily/weekly prayers. Dachers exercises really works well once I learn what to do, I recommend this to anyone.
